COMPLICATED WALKING

Robotic walking on unstable granular surfaces such as sand is still a challenging problem because the deformable terrain complicates robot dynamics. Researchers in the Complex Rheology and Biomechanics Lab in the Georgia Tech School of Physics are developing a stability model to guide robotic motion on such surfaces with the goal of allowing stable planar bipedal walking.
